When Bad Things Happen To Good People
A poem, in response to the earthquake in Chile, 28th February 2010.
When something bad befalls a dearest friend
Your being is affected to its core;
You yearn that things were as they were before
When life seemed destined to a better end,
When sweet reward did every act attend
And honest effort added to the store.
Oh, if there were a God, you would implore
That He such bitter consequence amend,
But what has happened beggars all Belief
And sad misfortune brings a welling tear;
Your being is beset by heartfelt grief
That chance has dealt such blow to one so dear.
But healing Time will gently bring relief
And hope and happiness shall reappear.
