He was a great man who did great things for humanity, but believed there is no God!! Why do we continue to make heroes out of these people? I've read a couple of Ludovics books including "All in the mind.." which, to me, seemed like a very well written quest to make himself feel better about souless lives with no here after accountability. You live, you die, that's it!! We mentally create God out of personal need. To give hope to humanity that there's a purpose to our existence when Mr Kennedy felt there was none. How empty of an existence that is!! No purpose, no point, no value...NOTHING!! But his belief is accepted by more and more people. Individuals such as him spent SOO much time trying to prove there is no God. Why not spend time proving why there is one?? Ludovic Kennedy was a great man who did wondrous things for humanity while he was alive on earth. The devil was one of Gods most beautiful angels in the heavens but look what he's done to corrupt our minds. But then again when you don't believe in God or the devil, who cares.
These are all of my opinions and I don't expect anybody else to agree with me, but each day that passes, we live in a more increasing Godless world. Who's right and who's wrong? I don't know and I can't answer for the world. But I do know God is real!! I would much rather (take a chance?) believe in God and live my life according to the scriptures, then believe in absolutely nothing. Hmmm: God OR nothingness? I'll put my faith in God!!

Ah Ludovic;

until recently I only really knew him from occasional appearances on Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister; its only when I noticed his name on the BHA website that I found out more about his humanistic world view.

Looked him up on wikipedia and found out about his time in the navy and how his ship narrowly missed the sinking of the Bismarck has it had to return to base to refuel; and then there was the investigative journalism he did into wrongful cases of capital punishment which contributed to the abolition of the death penalty.

Plus he had a book "All in the Mind - A Farewell to God" which I cynically wanted to read before his death, perhaps in the hope of not looking reactionary when the unfortunate and the inevitable happened.

A book "as compelling as the God Delusion" is a book I have to read, unfortunately there are Amazon sellers now who have priced their copies up to some £50 or more. Is it out of print, does anyone know the original publisher? Even my exorbitant book allowance has its limits?
