Carla Powell is the Pope’s knight in shining armour

The previous Pope’s state visit to Poland “led to the overthrow of Soviet communism and the freeing of the enslaved peoples of Europe”, says Carla Powell. Also if you’re a skeptic then you’re a moral relativist. Taken together this proves that the Pope’s state visit to the UK next month is right and good and only churlish people prejudiced against Catholicism could possibly imagine that lavishing official respect and spending huge amounts of taxpayer’s money on the Pope is in any way a bad thing. Also, if you disagree with this analysis, then you are prejudiced and you belong in “the decayed ghettos of Glasgow”.

Unfettered stereotyping and double-speak warning…

Speaking on the weekend when we officially celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be deeply symbolic. [The Pope] knows that the triumph of British freedom assisted his liberation as a German. His message will be clear: the conscience of the individual is the foundation of democracy. Even those who are not Catholic should welcome the Pope’s state visit to Britain and leave any unexamined anti-Catholic prejudice where it belongs – in the decayed ghettos of Glasgow or the dreary backstreet murals of Ulster.

  1. Pretty nice write-up. I simply Digging your website and desired to say that I’ve actually enjoyed studying your blogpost. Any means I’ll be signing up to your feed and I believe you’ll submit once more in the near future.

  2. The pope certainly does much good. One of the funniest stories I saw recently was about the pope needing body armour. Its true though, he does a dangerous job – pope body armour.

The point about Poland and the Pope/Communism is valid, well made!
